Lisbon Metabolizing seeks to establish a symbiotic relationship between La Baixa’s illustrated architecture and today’s changing society. Taking as a starting point the wooden lattice of the pombaline cage, a series of spaces created by the alteration of the pre-existing structural elements will appear. It is proposed the insertion of community programs of daily use that reactivate the surrounding area and modify the existing spaces including domestic activators in the central body. 

The project involves a review of the Pombaline ideal model and its adaptation to current urban dynamics. The city is again a reflection of the passage of time and the superposition of temporary layers brings richness and diversity to La Baixa, which regains its vitality and dynamism.
